USWNT set to play twice in Europe in June

The U.S. Women's National Team will conclude a two-game visit to Europe with a match against Norway at Komplett Arena in Sandefjord, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday.

The first game has yet to be determined for the U.S., which has a five-game winning streak over the Norwegians dating to 2008. This match is scheduled at 1:15 p.m. ET (7:15 p.m. local time) Sunday, June 11, the 50th meeting between the U.S. and Norway since 1987.

The USA defeated Norway in the championship game of the first Women’s World Championship in China in 1991. Norway defeated the U.S. in the semifinals on the way to winning the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup in Sweden.

The meeting will come before the start of the 2017 UEFA Women's Euro, Norway competing in Group A with host Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. This will be Norway's last match home before opening the Euros against the hosts in Utrecht July 16.

The USA and Norway last met at the 2015 Algarve Cup in Portugal, a 2-1 win for the USA. Norway’s Ada Hegerberg scored first, the U.S. rallying on two second-half goals from Carli Lloyd on the way to winning its 10th Algarve Cup title.

The USA has a 28-19-2 all-time record against Norway, No. 11 in FIFA rankings. The 19 wins for Norway are the most for a USA opponent. The last time Norway defeated the U.S. was by 2-0 in the 2008 Olympics in Qinhuangdao, China.

The USA has a 1-1-1 record in three friendly matches in Norway, drawing (1-1) in Tromso and losing (2-1) in Oslo in July 2000 and taking a 4-0 win in Fredrikstad July 2, 2008.
