December 21, 2016
United will begin final RFK season on March 4

D.C. United open their 2017 MLS Regular Season at home against Sporting Kansas City at RFK Stadium (the final home opener at RFK) on March 4 at 7 PM. D.C. then traveld to Yankee Stadium the following week to play New York City FC on March 12 at 2 PM.

Since 1996, D.C. United have a 9-6-6 home opener record at RFK Stadium. The Black-and-Red have scored 30 goals and allowed 30 goals in the 21 games. United have played Kansas City four times in home openers and have a 2-2-0 record scoring eight and conceding nine against their Western Conference opponent.

Last season, D.C. United and Sporting KC met once in the 2016 regular season. The game was decided by an 86th-minute game-winner from D.C. United and MLS debutant Alhaji Kamara. The 22-year-old scored 33 seconds into his debut to secure the fastest-ever debut goal in MLS history and secure the Black-and-Red their first away victory of 2016.
